The tumour that had been growing in Lawson's mouth for four years made it difficult for him to eat, breathe and speak properly. He was ostracised from his community. Now he is able to smile again.
Mercy Ships
I have been volunteering with Mercy Ships since January 2009. Mercy Ships operates the largest non-governmental hospital ship (M/V Africa Mercy) in the world and brings free medical care to the people of West Africa. The ship is currently docked in Lome, Togo and will remain there until August.

- I am a Grade One teacher - teaching the crew members children in the Academy. The Mercy Ships Academy is located on the Africa Mercy. There are about 50 students and 12 teachers from different countries.
